19 Crimes Shiraz Durif 2013
If you were ever to judge a wine by its bottle, this would be the one. Rough and Ragged. Big and Bold. Oh Marone, it's a good thing The Godfather is on Netflix because this bottle comes inspired. A big, bold, full-bodied red wine that is a smooth blend of shiraz and durif grapes. Hints of cassis, wildberry and blackcurrant. Pour into a decanter and aerate if you'd like, but the bottle is just a little too cool to toss it into recycling just yet. Get your goblet out, pour the wine and let the bowl rest in your palm while you chat with friends. Body temperature makes this already heavy wine feel slightly thick and just a little meaner. Yes, I am aware this is not wine drinking etiquette, but this wine has a style all of its own and it calls for a slightly rugged approach. Once you have had a sip or two, it is time to pull out your smart phone and download the 19 Crimes application. That's right, this bottle talks you through an experience unlike any other wine bottle has before. Talks? Yes, talks!

We tried it & it was so easy!
Once you’ve selected the wine you’d like to make, it takes less than 5 minutes to get your batch started.
Knowledgeable staff know the right questions to ask to help you choose the wine that’s right for you.
When your wine is ready four to eight weeks later, the automatic bottling equipment makes it a snap to turn out 30 professional-looking bottles in as little as 20 minutes. You can bring your own empty bottles and recycle them as long as they are very clean!
We chose a Malbec grape and we are anxiously waiting to provide you with our review! Now they say you can open the Malbec option at 3, 4 or 5 months...but its best to wait 6 months.
We are almost there! Our 6 month wait is complete at the end of May. So you'll just have to wait a wee bit more and we'll tell you all about our full tasting experience.
Upon opening this wine, the intense floral aroma sweeps out of the bottle and into your glass. Swirling the wine will send the lavender scent across the table; it’s that aromatic.
The color is a pure deep magenta, and is beautifully clear. The taste is very fruity; with a hint of cherry, bold blackberry and just enough tannin (a textural element that makes wine taste dry) to make it off dry. Pairing perfectly with red sauce pasta dishes, red meats and sharp cheese, this bottle of wine gives you everything you expect from a California Shiraz.
The Barefoot Shiraz won a Gold Medal at the 2007 Grand Harvest Awards in Santa Rosa. Go ahead… Pull out the cork to find out why.
Ever have trouble choosing the wine you want to serve for a big event? Wedding, Bridal Shower, Anniversary Party or...? Wine affects each pallet differently and it can be hard to pick a winner or two that will satisfy the majority of your guests.
So do what we did! Invite a mix of friends and start popping red and white corks (oh yes, twist those caps too).
Cover each wine label with your own (a nice big number), hand out notepads numbered 1-10 (1-20, 1-100 ...hey its your tasting party) and start having people rate each option. We recommend you only allow sips during the heavy and crucial task of critiquing each wine. Continue asking your guests "Overall do you think most people would enjoy this wine?" Sometimes they want to vote on a bottle they would be happy to take home - keep it all for themselves...Umm that's not really the point here Wino Wendy. Once the "hard-work" is over, we suggest you bring out more cheese, dried meats, cherries, dark chocolate and a variety of crackers.
Its time to enjoy and what a reward it will be.
"Devised by the two Phillips brothers in their search for a blended Zin so captivating that no one could refuse. With consistency in mind, the brothers decided to blend the fruit of Lodi’s finest growers to fill the bottles of Michael David’s new-fangled wine. In the end, seven vineyards were chosen for their superiority. Now, how do you label a wine so unique in style? Looking to their past, the two Phillips brothers quickly related the Seven Sins from their Catholic school upbringing to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in their wine" - Robert Parker
This zin is fuller and richer with more texture and deeper fruit than your average red zinfandel. It reveals hints of tapenade, new saddle leather, black cherries and black currants. It offers a whole lot of flavour for its price. At $25 you can pay for your zins at your local LCBO. So smooth, you just can't get enough.
Cune Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva
Firm and a bit austere, this red shows depth and drive, with chewy tannins supporting plum, tobacco, licorice and mineral flavors. The structure is solid but the wine remains fresh. Maturing now, this has a long life ahead.
Drink now through 2024. 4,000 cases made. Get it while you can - Ranked #1 in Food & Wine magazine.
$63 in the vintages at your local LCBO.
The sun is hanging around longer these days, and I don't know about you...but here at The Capelli Club we are getting the BBQ itch. Gathering friends and family, bringing over pinterest inspired potato salads, sirloin steaks, ooey gooey desserts and of course a bottle of wine you know everyone will be talking about. A great choice when heading to a friend's BBQ is the Cline Zinfandel. A simple choice and a winner with nearly anyone who enjoys wine. Even white winos tend to agree this is a nice, lighter, smooth red.
Pairs well with balsamic, pear, red meats and cheese.
You can find this at your local LCBO for under $13.
We love a good wine with a salad, a steak or my personal favorite...extra old cheddar cheese, a few grapes and banana peppers. After a busy day at the salon we love relaxing with a glass of wine at a cosy little restaurant on Preston St. (Little Italy). Today was a day in much need of a glass of red and we were pleasantly surprised with a delightful Malbec.
If you want a wine that goes down smooth and compliments rich flavours, the Malbec by Passion, an Argentinian wine, comes highly recommended. And the best part is, this bottle goes for under $10. It is a perfect wine to keep on the wine rack in the kitchen...open while cooking and preparing for guests...or serve it to them in a stylish decanter. They may ask you where you got the "Baby Amarone". No one needs to know ;)

Our studio boutique location was opened by Cris Mac and Amy Pucci in 2012.
One of the main motivating factors for Cris Mac to open her own studio boutique location was to have her beloved rescued boxer, Raffaella, at work with her everyday.
Do not be surprised to see a sweet calm little girl happily wiggling to say hello.
